Frequently Asked Questions
GENERAL QUESTIONS
Q: Do you deliver every image you photograph?
A: No, we do not. We eliminate duplicate images, test shots, missed focused shots, and shots with bad expressions that may hurt the overall product delivery. We value providing only the best images from the shoot, and because of that we take extra care by shooting more and being very critical of facial expressions that can potentially ruin a photograph.
Q: Does your studio provide videography services?
A: While we aren’t a videography studio, we offer short video clips as part of our packages.
Q: Have you shot at my venue before?
A: We have shot at many venues throughout Southern California. There is a good chance we’ve shot at yours. However, if we have not, nothing to worry about, we will get there early on the day of to perform a thorough walk-through scouting the best photography locations. We also do extensive online research of locations prior to the big day.
Q: Do you do destination weddings? What additional fees are associated with destination weddings?
A: While Daniel J Burrola Photography is based out of Los Angeles and Orange County, we service clients throughout California, Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico. Our destination wedding packages include the cost of travel, reasonable accommodations and per diem. Because we travel to New Mexico regularly, we do have special rates when in or around Las Cruces.
Q: Do you provide partial day coverage?
A: My studio offers different options as well as customization to fit clients needs.
Q: Does your studio do headshots, individual portraits, family portraits, newborn shoots, or other types of photography?
A: Yes, we have experience in many fields of photography.
Q: Do you shoot Quinceaneras, first birthdays or Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, corporate events?
A: We do shoot Quinceaneras, but at this moment we are not offering services for Birthdays, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs or corporate events. Please check back in the future for potential service changes.
POST PRODUCTION QUESTIONS
Q: Do you edit all the images in our image download?
A: Yes we do. Every image we deliver is edited with our unique signature style. These edits include color correction, exposure adjustment, selective black and white procession, clarity adjustments, tone-mapping, and other adjustments. You will find that many photographers do not edit every image, they will only post produce “select” images. This often results in having images being delivered that may be too dark, or have skin tone colors that are not correct along with other common photography flaws.
Q: What is the difference between advanced post production and custom post production?
A: Advanced post-production includes much more detailed editing. Skin retouching, editing of blemishes, under eye bag removal, fly away hairs, etc. Custom post production is much more extensive work in photoshop, removal of objects form a scene, changing size and shape of body parts or objects in the scene, adding objects to the scene. We charge hourly for custom post production as the time ranges vary depending on the complexity of the project.
STYLE & QUALITY QUESTIONS
Q: What is your philosophy regarding photography?
A: Please click here for details on our wedding photography philosophy.
Q: What is your photography style?
A: Daniel J Burrola Photography style has been described as Painterly, and Dramatic with a touch of Cinematic. We love using creative lighting, unique angles and compositions along with artistic post-production to create a signature style that is unique to us. We do not view ourselves as just photographers, but rather artists creating expressive works of art.
Q: My venue is very dark. How does your studio handle this, do you have examples?
A: Many venues suffer from this same dark atmosphere, what is known as mood lighting. There’s no need to worry, if allowed we setup additional lighting to ensure we get clean and focused images. Some chapels do not allow flash photography: but do not worry, we shoot on cameras with top of the line low-light capabilities and lenses with low apertures to allow more light in.
Q: Do you shoot natural light?
A: Many parts of a wedding day and or engagement photoshoot are shot using natural light only. We use light as a tool for an end product, throughout the shoot we are looking for the best lighting conditions and choosing locations to maximize light in a way that gets us to that end product. When introducing flash we are creating a look that is cohesive with our signature style, this happens primarily when needed such as in dark scenes, when shooting dramatic cinematic photographs.
